Advent International engages Gilles Denoyel as an Industry Advisor

Paris, 22 June 2016 – Advent International (‘Advent’), one of the largest and most experienced global private equity investors, today announced that Gilles Denoyel, former President of International Institutional Relations Europe for HSBC Group, has been engaged by Advent as an independent Industry Advisor.

Mr Denoyel previously held a number of senior management roles and brings with him over 30 years of operational experience relevant to the business and financial services sector. From 2015 to 2016 he was International President of Institutional Relations for Europe at HSBC Group, having formerly served as Chief Risk Officer, Head of Asset Management and Insurance, and Chief Operating Officer.

About Gilles Denoyel
Gilles Denoyel is a graduate of the Ecole des Mines de Paris, the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. In 1981, he was named inspector of finances for the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance. In 1985, he joined the management team of the French Treasury, where he held a range of senior positions. He was notably in charge of support for industrial restructuring, as General Secretary of the CIRI, and of the supervision and the regulation of the financial markets, as well as the regulation of the insurance sector, and ultimately took charge of the privatization program and the financial supervision of industrial public companies.

In June 1996, Gilles Denoyel joined Crédit Commercial de France as CFO, at that time an independent publicly listed company.  He became General Secretary in charge of strategy and operations, a member of the Executive Committee in 1998, then the Deputy Director General of Finance in 2000, notably in charge of preparing, then leading the merger with HSBC.

In 2004, he was named Deputy Managing Director, the person who reports to the supervisor and the administrator of the CCF, which became HSBC France in 2005. In parallel, he occupied in succession the posts of Chief Operating Officer (2004-2005), the head of Asset Management and Insurance (2005-2007), and then Chief Risk Officer (2007-2015).

From March 2015 until April 2016, he was ‘International President of Institutional Relations for Europe’ at HSBC Group. Since June 2016, he has been ‘Senior Advisor’ for financial services at the consulting firm Bain & Company, and will continue to hold this position once he takes up his position with Advent International. Gilles Denoyel has served on numerous boards of directors of public companies, as well as within HSBC Group. He was a member of the board and treasurer of the AFB, and President of the ‘Groupement des Banques sous contrôle Etranger’ for over 10 years.
