Advent International appoints Daniel Martínez-Valle, former CEO of Orbia, as an Operating Partner

Mexico City, September 13, 2021 – Advent International, one of the largest and most experienced global private equity investors, today announced the appointment of Daniel Martínez-Valle as an Operating Partner.

Martínez-Valle will be a key partner in helping Advent source, enhance and further grow its investments in the industrial sector, with a special focus on innovation and sustainability. He has extensive experience and global knowledge in the chemicals, materials and irrigation industries. In his previous role as CEO of Orbia Advance Corporation, he spearheaded the transformation of the group’s strategy and vision, which helped fuel its successful expansion.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to partner with Advent International, as I am confident that, together, we will strengthen the firm’s presence and add value to exciting industrial businesses,” said Martínez-Valle. “In the current context, it is essential that the industrial sector is aligned with ESG factors and learns from the digital ecosystem, areas where we will continue to bring the global expertise of Advent’s team to local industries.”

As an Operating Partner, Martínez-Valle will work with Advent’s investment teams and the management teams of its portfolio companies to promote innovation and sustainability in these businesses.

“Daniel has demonstrated a strong ability to drive business transformation and innovation throughout his extensive career,” said Manuel García-Podestá, a Managing Director who leads Advent’s industrial investment activities in Latin America. “Most recently at Orbia, he led the global repositioning of its business with a strong focus on the needs of its customers, establishing sustainability as a core element of the group’s corporate strategy. His expertise in sustainability and innovation will be a great addition to our global industrial franchise.”

Ariel Blumenkranc, Head of Advent’s Mexico City office, commented: “We are excited to work with Daniel as an Operating Partner. He will help us source and execute new investment opportunities and will provide advice with a global perspective to our current and future portfolio companies.”

Martínez-Valle began his career in venture capital, investing in early-stage companies. He led global strategy and planning at Cisco Systems and prior to assuming the role of CEO at Orbia, he was CEO of Kaluz. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
