10 March 2008, Paris - Advent International today announced the appointment of Alice Escoffier as Assistant Director in the Paris office. Alice brings significant experience in the investment and finance sectors, gained in her previous role at 3i, as well as an expertise in leveraged finance.
This latest appointment further strengthens the Paris team following the earlier arrival of Nicolas Maurin as Associate last September.
Alice joins Advent International after having spent four years with 3i in Paris where, as part of the buyout team, she focused on corporate and industrial sector transactions. Before joining 3i, she specialised in buyouts at ING Barings’ acquisition finance department in Paris. Alice is a political sciences graduate of IEP Lyon and the University of Virginia.
Pascal Stefani, Director of Advent International in France, said: “We continue to develop our team having completed two major deals last year. Notwithstanding the current difficulties surrounding the LBO debt market, we remain confident in our ability to continue to do deals going forward. This is because our strategy of creating value through revenue growth in our portfolio companies makes us less reliant on financial leverage. We particularly invest in companies with opportunities for international development or restructuring, or which operate in high growth markets.”
Since opening its Paris office in 1997, Advent has supported the international development of companies such as Elior, Materis, Loxam, Dufry and Sportfive. Last year, the Paris office invested in Stokomani, a leading discount retailer, and Sophis, a leading provider of cross-asset, front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions. Many of the team’s deals are illustrative of Advent’s cross-border approach to investing. Stokomani and Sophis were the result of a close collaboration between Advent’s Paris and Boston offices. Together with Advent’s Frankfurt team, the Paris office completed the sale of the sports marketing group Sportfive to Lagardère in November 2006. The Paris team also played a significant role in the purchase of Marineland in Antibes by Parques Reunidos, one of Advent’s Spanish portfolio companies.
