15 October 2007, Boston - Advent International, the global private equity group, today announced the addition of four new members to its Boston-based North American deal team. Mohammed Anjarwala joins as Principal, and Nicholas Pike, Christopher Ryan and Sarah Smith as Associates.
All four appointments support the ongoing activity of Advent’s $3.3 billion GPE buyout program, which invests primarily in North America and Western Europe.
During the 2006-07 timeframe, Advent has won an unprecedented 9 prestigious industry awards, including Private Equity International’s – 20 Most Influential Private Equity Funds; 2006 European Private Equity Awards (EVCA/INSEAD/Real Deals) – European Private Equity House of the Year; and Deal of the Year 2007 (Buyouts) – Exit of the Year for Boart Longyear. The awards reflect both excellence and innovation in deal-making across all key Advent territories and mark an outstanding period during which we realized significant proceeds from 20 exits and invested $1.2 billion in 13 companies in 9 countries in 2006.
Recent transactions in North America include the IPO of lululemon athletica, one of the fastest growing designers and retailers of technical athletic apparel in North America; the IPO of Boart Longyear, the world’s leading provider of drilling services and products; and the acquisition of Sophis, a leading provider of cross-asset, front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions, led by our French deal team in close collaboration with their US counterparts.

Mohammad Anjarwala joined Advent in August and brings a wealth of private equity experience from his years at SFW Capital Partners and Bain Capital Partners. Mohammed received his MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated cum laude from Franklin and Marshall College with a BA in Mathematics and Economics. At Advent, he will focus on buyout opportunities in the industrial sector.
Nick Pike joins us from UBS Investment Bank in New York where he had been working in their financial sponsors and leveraged finance group, Chris Ryan comes from The Parthenon Group, a Boston-based consulting firm where he was part of their private equity group, and Sarah Smith joins Advent from McKinsey & Company in Charlotte, NC having worked in the company’s North American private equity practice. All three Associates will join sector focused deal teams, specifically business & financial services, industrial, and retail & consumer.
