28 November 2008, London - Advent International, the global private equity firm, swept the board at the sixth annual European Private Equity Awards hosted by the EVCA and Real Deals magazine on Friday, 21st November in Paris.

Advent was shortlisted as ‘Fund of the Year’ and took home three awards in the following categories:

• European Private Equity House of the Year
• Deal of the Year - DACH: SAG
• Deal of the Year – Mediterranean: Gruppo Argenta

The awards highlight outstanding investment performance of private equity transactions in six European regions and were judged by a panel of leading institutional investors and industry leaders.

“The companies and investors recognised this evening have succeeded, not only in providing strong returns to their institutional investors, but also in offering a powerful contribution to Europe’s economy at large,” said Javier Echarri, EVCA Secretary General.

SAG is Europe’s leading provider of energy-related infrastructure services to utilities. Advent refocused the business strategically and operationally, reducing the complexity of its conglomerate-like structure divesting its non-core businesses in 11 separate transactions within 14 months. This resulted in the creation of a lean, transparent and efficient customer oriented organisation.

Gruppo Argenta is Italy’s leading vending machine operator. By partnering with Advent the business had the scale, the capital resources and a deal team with the expertise to accelerate an aggressive acquisition programme. A successful buy-and-build strategy, integrating 11 acquisitions, positioned the company at the forefront of Europe’s largest vending machine market.

On Thursday, 27th November, Advent International won in the ‘Fundraising of the Year’ category at the unquote” British Private Equity Awards.

The award recognised Advent’s fundraising efforts on its Global Private Equity Fund, GPE VI. The fund closed on 4th April 2008 at €6.6 billion ($10.54 billion) with only 3 weeks between the first and final close and was raised within a 5 month period.

These awards add to a growing list of accolades Advent has received over the past few years. Since 2005, Advent has won 15 awards and has been shortlisted in 16 additional categories.
