Takko is one of Europe’s leading fashion discounters, operating in the one of the most attractive segments in the retail sector.
A ‘category killer’, Takko employs some 9,000 people worldwide and has a network of 1,059 stores across Western and Central Europe. Sales for the financial year 2007/2008 are forecast at approximately €800 million, up 10% from 2006/2007.
Headquartered in Telgte, Germany, Takko enjoys strong brand recognition with an estimated 25% of adults in its domestic market having purchased its clothing in the last 12 months.
A model in vertical integration, over 80% of Takko’s products are designed in-house and sourced either via its purchasing subsidiary or contract manufacturers. The business also practices best-in-class sourcing and supply chain management, supported by state-of-the-art logistics. This result is significant economies of scale, generating attractive margins.
The strategy going forward is to accelerate Takko’s already successful international expansion, targeting 150 store openings per annum. Of particular interest is Central and Eastern Europe, currently experiencing above-average growth rates and a territory where Advent has a strong presence.
