Deal sourcing at Advent is proactive and entrepreneurial. We track potential investments for long periods of time, identify companies with similar profiles to existing investments, and build relationships with experienced senior executives in our core sectors long before we need them. We are in constant contact with management teams, intermediaries, advisors and industry experts, looking for the right opportunities.

Identifying promising investments where we can make an appreciable difference to the company’s prospects requires significant work in the diligence phase. With the support of our operating partners, we conduct thorough studies of each company, its macro environment and the long-term opportunities for improvement that might result from our ownership.

Intense involvement

We are active, hands-on investors in portfolio companies, and commit significant resources to investments. The involvement of investment professionals and operating partners with the company through the entire investment period, from sourcing to exit, maximizes the value of their knowledge, experience and relationships.

Experience counts

We share knowledge and experience globally which gives us an in-depth understanding of operational issues and solutions. Many of our investment professionals have industry and consulting backgrounds. Extra hands

Managing change can create competing demands for resources and management focus. Our operational resources therefore include a dedicated portfolio support team that is available to assist management teams with projects providing greater capacity and capability as and when needed.

Exit discipline

We produce returns for investors by exiting portfolio companies when we have achieved our value creation objectives, which we monitor through regular portfolio reviews. We involve the companies in exit planning and take measures to maintain the stability and growth of the business through the transition phase and beyond.
