Global highlights 2009

Reach the Beach Relay Reach the Beach is an annual endurance team relay held
in the US over a 207-mile course. In November 2008 our Boston office first raised the idea of taking part in 2009. Interest in Reach the Beach quickly grew in the course
of the regular meetings and conversations between the offices in our global network, leading to the decision to
enter an international Advent team.

Involvement

With 60 runners in five teams drawn from across our offices, aided by round-the-clock operational support during the event from non-running volunteers from all levels of the organization, one-quarter of the worldwide Advent community actively participated in the 36-hour day/night race.

Outcome

Each international team chose a different charity and team members raised funds for projects with personal relevance. Other participation benefits identified by Advent team members included individual health and wellbeing, global teambuilding and friendship, shared responsibility and collective achievement.
